Safaris on horseback are daring, different and have an element of excitement and some are can also be totally luxurious.

On a horse you are completely immersed in nature, the sounds and sights all around you, following the wild animals, through ravines and rivers, going about their daily routine. The horses are accepted by wildlife as just another part of their surroundings, you are seated at a height that makes game spotting easy and you can cover a lot of ground on a horse.
Some safaris are suitable for all levels of rider and view plains game - all types of antelope, zebra, giraffe and many smaller carnivores such as black back jackal or even cheetah. When riding in areas with "big game" such as lion, elephant, buffalo and black rhino you need to be a confident rider.

For safety you will always have 2 guides one of who may be armed depending on the area you ride in. One guide rides ahead and one brings up the rear of the small groups. The guides are experienced at reading animal behavior and in the unlikely event of an unexpected move you follow your back up rider out of the area.
