If you are going on a horse riding holiday, it is imperative that you have adequate travel and health insurance that covers you specifically for the type of riding you are undertaking. You will be asked to supply details of this when booking with Unicorn Trails and other reputable companies. Many insurance companies routinely exclude horse riding and charge an excess to cover this. Please check any policy with the issuers.


Residents of the United Kingdom can obtain an EHIC, the replacement for the E111. This covers you for basic health care to the level of the relevant national health scheme when travelling within the EEC. This is not a comprehensive travel insurance, the level of care varies from country to country and the EHIC does not cover repatriation in an air ambulance or extra space that may be required if travelling with an injury.

We have negotiated a very competitively priced policy ( Europe for one week from £13.05) which includes horse riding as standard, the only exclusions are polo and hunting.
